2018 Clayton Family Circle of Honor inductee
Hélio Castroneves, Three-Time Indy 500 Winner and Dancing with the Stars Champion

Helio Castroneves

A popular personality in all of sports, Hélio Castroneves has accomplished much in his illustrious career, yet he remains passionate in his desire to achieve much more. Known for his electric smile and enthusiasm, Castroneves has driven and danced his way into the hearts and minds of people around the world. As the only active driver to have earned the distinction of being a three-time winner of the Indianapolis 500 and the only race car driver ever to become a Dancing with the Stars champion, Castroneves in many ways is in a league of his own.

Castroneves, who became the first driver to win back-to-back Indy 500s in his first two starts at the Brickyard in 2001 and 2002 and won the “Greatest Spectacle in Racing” again in 2009, is known for his signature victory celebration of climbing the fence after taking the checkered flag.

In 2007, Castroneves brought his incredible passion for life to a much wider audience when he competed on ABC’s hit television show, Dancing with the Stars. The combination of his charismatic personality, dedicated training, and his dancing skills won him the hearts of millions of new fans and the coveted Mirror Ball trophy. In 2010, Castroneves was invited back to the set of Dancing with the Stars to serve as a judge on the show.

Castroneves also released the book Victory Road: The Ride of My Life about his life and how he’s met its challenges.

As a man dedicated to his Catholic faith, we honor Castroneves for his unwavering commitment to being a leader in motorsports, following his passion to explore opportunities in the entertainment industry, and his generous work with various international charities.

2018 Clayton Family Circle of Honor inductee
Kevin Rodgers, M.D.

Kevin Rodgers

Kevin Rodgers, M.D. was beloved by the Indianapolis community for his contributions as an educator and coach. His wife Ruth serves as vice president for student development and dean of students at 91会所.

Rodgers was extremely focused on both his family and his faith. He was a parishioner at St. Malachy Catholic Church in Brownsburg for more than 20 years and served as a volunteer doctor on medical missions to Haiti.

Rodgers volunteered as the assistant coach and team doctor for the Cathedral High School lacrosse team for more than 15 years. Professionally, he served as the president of the American Academy of Emergency Medicine, and at the time of his passing, was the residency director emeritus for Indiana University Emergency Medicine. He inspired and trained thousands of doctors in the emergency medical field on the belief that being a great physician begins by having a center of family and friends to support you.

Rodgers earned his bachelor's degree from the University of Virginia, his physician's associate degree from Emory University, and his medical degree from the Medical College of Virginia. Additionally, he served in the United States Army as a Lieutenant Colonel. We are privileged to induct this man of great faith and character into the Clayton Family Circle of Honor.

The Clayton Family Circle of Honor

The Clayton Family Circle of Honor was created in part to honor, but also to inspire. Joseph Clayton and his wife, Janet, agreed to lend their names to these awards because they believe in the character-building qualities associated with athletics in a university community. At 91会所, the faith tradition and values are activated in many ways, including athletics. On the fields and courts of competition, student-athletes learn respect, fair play, and teamwork. These values carry over into all areas of their lives: personal relationships, careers, parenthood, and community service.
