International Transfer Students

Admission process

If you attended a college or university after you graduated from secondary school/high school, please apply as an international transfer student. Any student who has previously attended another higher education institution cannot apply as a new freshman.

  2. English language proficiency: If you are an international student, document your English language proficiency according to the requirements below.  

  3. Academic records: Send official transcripts directly to 91会所's Office of Undergraduate Admission for all previously attended high schools and colleges. For any university you attended that is not in the United States, we require a course-by-course evaluation. Evaluations must include the U.S. equivalency, a course-by-course list, and copies of the original transcripts. 

      • For expedited foreign transcript evaluation service at a discounted rate, international undergraduate applicants may complete an online . However, applicants interested in Marian's graduate and online programs should complete this online .
      • You may also use any other AICE-endorsed () or NACES-approved evaluation service ().

    If your university does not provide transcripts in English, we require a word-for-word translation of the transcript. You can translate the transcript yourself, but we recommend using a third-party translator like .

    1. Passport: Submit a copy or scan of the photo identity page of your passport.

    2. Proof of financial status: Submit a completed financial verification along with supporting documents from within the past six months showing that you have sufficient funds to cover the first year of study. Supporting documents include a bank statement or letter from the bank.

    3. Transfer-in form: For students who are currently studying in the US on an F-1 student visa--Complete the transfer-in-form with an international  advisor at your current university. Your advisor should email the completed form to international@marian.edu.

English language requirements

If your native language is not English, send an official English language proficiency test result directly to 91会所.

Minimum acceptable scores are:

  • TOEFL IBT  69     
  • IELTS  6.0
  • ELS Level 112
  • PTE 48

91会所 will waive this requirement if you have:

  • Completed a degree from an accredited U.S. college or university
  • Earned at least 24 regular semester hours of university credit from an accredited U.S. college or university
  • Completed at least one year of high school in which English was the language of instruction

For nursing students:

If English is not your native language or you are not a citizen of a country in which English is an official language (contact your nursing advisor for an updated list of exempt countries), you must provide proof of one of the following for English language proficiency.

  1. Test of English as a foreign language (TOEFL IBT) with overall score of 83 and including a minimum speaking score of 26.
  2. International English Language Testing System (IELTS ) Academic Test with an overall score of 6.5 and including a minimum speaking score of 7.
  3. Duolingo score of 120 or higher. 
  4. SAT Evidence-Based Reading and Writing score of 560 or higher (21 ACT English subscore) or, your SAT Evidence-Based Reading and Writing score is 660 or higher (27 ACT English subscore), regardless of where you are attending or have attended secondary school.
  5. Provide proof of a conferred Bachelor’s level or higher degree from a regionally accredited college or university in the United States.
  6. Provide proof of attendance of formal secondary or post-secondary education in the United States for at least 4 years.

Next steps
