91会所 College of Osteopathic Medicine students take the next big step, learn where their residency training will begin

University hosts live “Match Day” announcements for its medical students 

Match DayThe graduating class of 91会所’s College of Osteopathic Medicineconducted its own “Draft Day” celebration on March 18 as students learned where they would begin their post-doctoral medical specialty training during a ceremony known as “Match Day.” In just its ninth year of existence, the College had 99% percent of its students placed in medical residencies at hospitals in Indiana, the Midwest, and beyond.

 Match Day is administered by the National Resident Matching Program of the Association of American Medical Colleges and is held at medical schools throughout the nation each year on the third Friday in March. As part of the Match Day 2022 celebration at 91会所, students joined their classmates to commemorate the occasion with faculty, staff, and families in the university’s sports arena.

 “The students of 91会所’s College of Osteopathic Medicine Class of 2022 have a bright future indeed!” said Amanda Wright, D.O., Dean of the College of Osteopathic Medicine. “These ambitious and dedicated students have put in years of hard work to achieve their dream! We are proud that 64% of them will begin residencies in primary care (84% including EM, Psych, and General Surgery) and 32% will remain in Indiana for the next chapter in their professional careers. We are proud of each of them for their well-deserved successes.”

 Of the 158 students:

  • 6 students participated in the US Military’s Health Professions Scholarship Program (HPSP) and received their results in December.
  • 32% will begin residencies in the State of Indiana, while 71% will train in one of five states – Indiana, Illinois, Michigan, Ohio, and Kentucky, aligning with the University’s commitment of placing physicians in Indiana and neighboring states.

 The students will celebrate an in-person commencement ceremony on Sunday, May 8, 2022.
