An art exhibit coming to 91会所
a bridge across, a path through, an exhibition, featuring new work by Heidi Leitzke, will be on display in the 91会所 Art Gallery (MUAG) located in the Michael A. Evans Center for Health Sciences from August 23–October 11. An artist's presentation and reception will be held on Monday, October 11, from 5-7 p.m. in the MUAG. The exhibit and reception are free and open to the public.
Heidi Leitzke’s new work features original thread paintings, oil paintings, and works on paper. Heidi explores nature-based subject matter as a way to reflect upon and better understand her human experience. Leitzke’s work does not render an exact likeness of any one place, but rather celebrates the spirit of aliveness that she finds in nature.
In Heidi’s current body of work, a bridge across, a path through, the viewer experiences a metaphorical of connection between different realities and ideals. In Leitzke’s work we find ourselves winding like a thread through a space of journey, perhaps through the past year, living through a pandemic. Encountering joy and anxiety associated with re-emerging into the world. A world that feels both familiar and forever changed.
Heidi Leitzke is a visual artist exploring the wonders of nature and realms of imagination. Her drawings and thread paintings have been included in group and solo exhibitions around the world, from Lancaster, Pennsylvania, where she lives and works, to Swaziland, Africa, as part of the U.S. State Department’s Art in Embassies program. Leitzke earned an Master of Fine Arts in Painting from Western Carolina University. She has taught at the Chautauqua Institute School of Art, Drexel University and Pennsylvania College of Art & Design, where she was the gallery director for over eight years. For two years, Leitzke served as public art manager for the City of Lancaster, Pennsylvania, and she remains actively involved in promoting high-quality art projects within the local community as assistant professor of art and director of the Eckert Art Gallery at Millersville University.
